STAR World India is an English language television channel, part of the STAR World network, owned by STAR TV broadcast in India. It syndicates popular shows from U.S. and U.K. to appeal to the English-speaking population of India and other South Asian countries. An HD simulcast of the channel was started in April 2011.

History

STAR World is the most popular English entertainment channel in India. Channel caters mainly to the urban population, 15-34 year old group people. Bulls eye target group for the channel is 24 year old working professionals. In 2011, Star India launched their HD channel on TataSky HD. Currently its available on Videocon D2H, Airtel Digital TV HD and TataSky HD.

This channels also broadcasts in Bhutan, Nepal and Sri Lanka. In Pakistan and Bangladesh, this beam was replaced by the Middle East Beam due to the cultural similarities.

Star World Torrents

This block broadcasts recent shows of various genres, and its name and theme have been derived from the downloading website Torrentz. As of August 2011, it included shows such as Franklin and Bash, Mad Love, Raising Hope, Lights Out and Terra Nova (TV series).
